In what has so far proven to be an exciting series for the talented young riders, their prominence in the results has continued to impress ahead of the National Omnium Finals at Herne Hill Velodrome on the 2nd of July.
In the U16 boys omnium, Charlie Kelly took the overall win on the day. Lapping the field in the points race, he showed his tactical and physical potential in what was a well calculated move.
Lucy Gadd won the U16 girls event with a commanding display, winning the TT, scratch and devil, as well as taking a lot of points in the points race! Freya Thatcher was 3rd overall. A strong and attacking performance by her, which was notable as she was still impeded by her wounds from a hard crash the week before in Shrewsbury.
There are three Regional Omnium’s to qualify for the national final. At present, all three riders should qualify with one round to go next week in Brighton.
