12 months ago I began working with Mark from EPiC Coaching. Since then I have seen vast improvements in every aspect of my cycling – from strength, to diet, to endurance. I also have a lot more confidence going into races as I have every faith in what training I am set, meaning that the  “have I done the right training” fears have gone. The great coach-rider relationship I have with Mark has also been crucial in my development as I can give honest feedback and openly talk to Mark about any issues regarding my health or coaching, making it easier to be set the right sessions and monitor my fatigue.

This year the National Championships were a big goal of mine; although I was a first year under 23, I knew the course suited me and I knew that I had trained hard. So I set myself a high goal of securing a top five in the u23 category and top 15 in the senior women. Despite some illness before the event, I was confident the the training I had been set by EPiC throughout the year had put me in the best possible shape. I managed to come away with 4th u23 and 8th overall. For me this summaries EPiC Coaching completely. After less than 12 months of coaching I had seen huge improvements in my overall fitness; gained more confidence and had developed a strong coach-rider relationship, which ultimately lead me to not only achieving my goal of the year but surpassing it.

At the end of the 2015 season, having guested with a Spanish team for 2 months as a second year junior, I managed to secure a place in the Caja Rural development team for the following season. While this was a great opportunity for me to ride fully supported in U23 and Elite category races with one of the biggests teams in Spain, I knew I was going to need guidance. Having never been coached one on one before I realized I had a large margin for improvement in terms of fitness which I was going to need to make the most of in the transition from junior to U23. But as well as that, I was looking for support during the season where I was going to be living in a foreign country and being exposed to an entirely new culture both on and off the bike. I needed to be guided on training, racing and resting effectively.

unknown-1After a year with Epic, I have seen major improvements in my power data and I am very pleased with the service I have received. I feel I have found a good balance in my training between aiming at long term development and going well in the races. Over the course of a season you have setbacks such as crashes or illness as well as changes to the racing calendar, Epic have coached me through these times with an adaptive training program which can meet my needs in the short term without losing sight of my overall development. Having a raced a full season as an U23 I have achieved some respectable placings in races in the Basque country as well as been able to help my team to important results throughout the year. I am looking forward to another season in Spain next year coached by Epic where I can hopefully continue to learn and improve.

I’ve been with EPiC Coaching for only 8 months now, but already have improved dramatically. I’ve unknown-12achieved more than I could have imagined this year, with the Junior Tour of Wales being a real highlight.
Winning a 2/3 road race solo in the last 20 minutes really proved to myself how the training was paying off.

Consistent results followed the consistent performance in training, hitting new power PBs constantly. The personal approach is something I’ve really enjoyed and I really look forward to what is to come!

People spend thousands on kit for upgrades to make themselves faster whilst racing. Personally I think it will only make you so good, and won’t affect the limit on how far you can progress. The fact is that being coached and taught by Epic has changed my tactical, mental, and physical ability in cycling. Going from not winning anything at under-14 level, to winning some local races at under-16 – with the help of Epic I knew the progression was there, especially after I had beaten 15/16 year olds the size of men whilst I was still 5’2!

unknown-10After lots of hard work with the EPiC Coaching team, I’ve come away from my final season as a junior to win the Junior Tour of Ireland – a 6 day junior tour, take the overall win in the National Junior Series – showing my consistency throughout the season, and placing 6th in Keizer der Juniores UCI 2.1 – a race two years ago I’d say wouldn’t have suited me. With the help from the guys at EPiC, I have become stronger in every aspect of my riding, and I can gain results everywhere, no matter the course.

In 2017 I make the move to France, staying with EPiC Coaching, and looking to improve further!

I feel like I’ve really excelled and progressed with the help from EPiC this year. The physical coaching and also the tactical help that I’ve received has made a massive difference to the way that I race; and I feel that it has really influenced my results this season.

unknown-4I’ve met my goal of getting several top 10 finishes in the Junior National Series this season, as well as gaining experience in several UCI races – where I placed in the top 20 a couple of times. My training this year has been done based on power, and my raw power has increased loads since EPiC started coaching me 12 months ago, as well as my power to weight ratio. My main focus for this year was to get as much experience as possible and to get an idea of what I want to do in the future, which I think I’ve succeeded in doing. I also know where I need to improve for 2017.

My best results this season have been 5th at the first round of the National Series in Wales, 8th at the National Series in Hatherleigh, and 19th at the GP Bati-Metallo UCI race.

I joined Epic just over a year ago as an un-coached rider. I met Peter Georgi through the Club Cluster sessions that he coached at Castle Combe over the winter. Over the past 12 months Epic have transformed me and in my first year as a ‘Youth A’ rider I have been selected to represent the South region on the road and track.
I have really enjoyed working with Peter, my coach, he is incredibly knowledgeable and has always been there to advise me on all aspects of my riding – from training to race tactics. From the winter sessions, we unknown-1knew that my endurance needed improving, and spent the winter doing lots of endurance rides. At the start of the 2016 season I was a much stronger athlete.

There have been many highlights to my season, including winning the Southern Regional Circuit Racing Championships, and being selected to represent the South Region in the School Games and Inter-Regional Track Championships to name a few.

It has been a really good season, which has finished off with being offered a place as a Great Britain Cycling Team Apprentice. I couldn’t have imagined having such a good season before joining Epic Coaching, they’ve been there every step of the way to support me
