With less than a week to go until the final round of the UCI Junior Womens Nations Cup series, Omloop Van Borsele, Epic riders Lauren Dolan and Pfieffer Georgi rode their final time trial in preparation for the events opening 13.4km prologue.
Near Honiton, Devon, The Northover VT time trial is a gruelling test of strength. The 10 mile course consisting of windy false flats, technical turns, and rough road surfaces means that sub-20 minute times are seldom seen. Indeed, the winning time was 20:17, set by Revo-Racing’s Matt Slater.
Starting six minutes ahead of Georgi, Dolan (current national GHS 10 champion and record holder) blitzed the course to take the win in the women’s competition in a fantastic time of 22:42, with teammate Georgi following in second place with a 23:01. Perhaps more impressively, both riders were clear from WNT professional, Natalie Grinczer, who placed 13th at last years National TT Championships, and won prologue during the Ras.
A great ride from both the juniors, in what has proved to be a great friendly rivalry between the two over the years. Last year, Dolan took the GHS competition record from Georgi, a time that will take some beating.
